I've started this blog to talk directly to everyone about what's on my mind, heart and soul. I want it to be somewhat like my radio show, 'Off The Cuff' - thoughts and feelings about everything.... It's pretty obvious that humanity stands at the crossroads now more than ever. We can choose destruction or reconstruction, renewal and change. That change needs to bring us together not further apart. We are here now -- all of us, on our planet together, we share this lovely place and we share life with each other. I believe we need to learn to be honest and friendly with each other or the wars, famines, pollution, violence against our planet and one another will continue. So many of us everywhere on our earth know that this violence is not feasible, not sustainable. Now through various forms, including, and most importantly, here on the world wide web, we can communicate instantly with each other and in that I find so much hope for us. We can reach out to each other instantly. We could do so much good and create such deep and lasting friendships.
One of the issues I hope to clear up with this blog is the misinformation, slander and downright lies circulating about myself, my deceased husband, Wulf, and Zendik Arts. I've never read the dirt (some of it pretty low-life disgusting) slung at us, but I've heard about it from friends and neighbors. I've never read the attacks. I never read tabloids or the gossip columns. I find people who spend their lives trying to hurt or destroy others to be ridiculous, at best, petty, stupid and quite contemptible at worst. I am very open to commentary on this blog, but I am really not interested in people who want to argue or prove a point. True, open, curious communication is very exciting to me. Arguing is not. At this time in our history here on earth, we need desperately to be together and learn to love and respect each other! We can no longer afford to be against each other. That way, one against the other, those in power, stay in power. For ourselves, our children, grandchildren and generations to come, I know, as well as many of my friends everywhere on this earth, that we can create a beautiful world.
Let's go for it Now......... I hope you enjoy this blog.
Amen!

Hello, Arol:
Back in 1991, I was approached by one of the road warriors, Nom, and I bought a zine. When I read it, I was impressed by the elegance of the Ecolibrium and Creavolution philosophies. Wulf was a very passionate and eloquent person. There was substance, a real working philosophy there. I've enjoyed listening to "Off The Cuff". I sense a deep sincerity from your communiques.
As in any intentional community, there are complex dynamics, personalities that will mesh and/or clash.
Yes, there are some very negative ideas out there, regarding the current state of affairs at Zendik Farm.
Life on a farm involves some very grueling labor, from sun-up to sun-down---and beyond. It may seem at times to be lacking in immediate rewards.
I think that the burn-out that some have expressed comes from a variety of sources.
One could be a kind of disillusionment regarding the mundane aspects of running a rural intentional community.
Another could be a feeling of being "hazed" during the initial time period of being a member.
I think that the number one complaint I've noticed from people who were part of Zendik was the feeling of being coerced into polyamory in the community. People report that their relationships were "broken up", because monogamy is considered "square".
Arol, rather than ignoring the negative press, I think that you can look at it squarely and see it as an opportunity to re-assess your approach to guiding Zendik.
This Ecolibrium/Creavolution idea is so promising, and I know that deep down, you want to create a world of peace and creativity.
Peace,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I'm sorry you've been subjected to the lies people tell about Zendik. First of all, there is a group of people who have committed their life-energies (believe it or not), their precious lives, to trying to destroy Zendik Arts. I feel sorry for them all and wish, for their sakes, they'd get on with their own lives. They would be able to give so much more to a suffering world. As to what I should address I agree with you and by the way, I appreciate your kind words.
As to what we are being attacked about, none of those people know Zendik Arts now. As for the past, at Zendik you could be polygamous, monogamous, gay, straight, married, bi-sexual - whatever. This has always been true at Zendik in any of its' incarnations.
Both Wulf and I have never coerced anyone into anything, everything is up to the person, and certainly not the style of sexual lives. We've never seen that one style was necessarily better than another. The only thing we cared about was a persons' genius potential and if we could help actualize that, the knowledge of cause and effect, to know that you do affect your environment for good or evil, and most prominently a commitment to creating a better world for everyone, everywhere. No, the work was and is not grueling. If people found it so, I hope they had the good sense to leave if it wasn't for them,. We have always produced great art, t.v. and radio shows, college talks and tours, music, philosophy and belonged to other groups wanting to save the world and worked against social and environmental injustice. Among our friends we count people from Paul Watson, Patch Adams, Dave Foreman and many, many others.
Yes, farming and animal husbandry is physical work, but anything creative is hard work. When you're into something it's never "hard" work. If you are into image and a fantasy of being hippie, then yes, it's hard work. If we were working ourselves to death in sometimes rural areas, we wouldn't have had time for all the activities I've listed. Also, as I said earlier, we've had many incarnations and were also into touring and performing and living in buses and parking wherever we could, talking to people and, as I said, performing on the streets. We love being rural, but haven't always been able to live that way. Our working from sun-up to sun-down is a lot of garbage. In fact, our neighbors here tease us about our late hours at night and late wakeups!
In an intentional community wh3ere you are setting your own agenda, not working outside jobs, there are many experiments in interpersonal relationships, work, etc. These change constantly and we believe in change. Change is why we've been around for over 40 years.
The assumption was that everyone was into those experiments, no one had to do anything they didn't want to do. What was the past is done. Why live in it?
There is so much to do and help create Now. Now is what matters. How much you care about others' welfare, whether they are here in your own neighborhood or across the globe, is what matters. We're all connected and people who devote themselves to hurting others don't seem to know that. For that I am sorry and sorry we all are subjected to the meanness of these people, consisting of outright lying and trying to destroy others. What a waste of time. If you think of all our contributions to society - you could clearly see the lying to rationalize about their lives and to keep the attention off themselves, which would reveal way too much. All I can say is ---- Onward!
P.S. Oh, yes, I hope you read my other entries in this blog. It might clarify some of your questions.
Thanks so much for writing.
